A prophecy, a supernatural force, and a landmark for Belizean cinema

2012 was the year of prophecies, wasn't it? In this case, the prophecy foretold that a cave would be forcibly opened, unleashing a supernatural force destined to bring destruction upon the world. It all begins in a nearby village, where a deadly fever starts claiming one victim after another.

That's the premise of 2012: Kurse a di Xtabai, a feature film shot entirely in Belize that draws inspiration from the legend of Xtabai, a demonic femme fatale who lures men into the forest with her irresistible beauty, only to lead them to their deaths. The cast is made up exclusively of Belizean actors and for several of them, it marked their very first acting role.
