The Crow (1994)

Known as the final film of actor Brandon Lee, The Crow follows a rock musician resurrected to avenge his own death and that of his fiancée. Three decades later, it has become a cult classic — one that also had to contend with the disappointment of a failed remake.

The Incredibles (2004)

This award-winning Pixar film is about as well-known as it gets; it hardly needs an introduction. Set in a retro-futuristic past, the feature follows two superheroes who become a suburban couple and parents of three, only to return to action when an obsessed fan threatens their family.

Chronicle (2012)

You’ve most likely seen clips from this movie on TikTok. The film follows three high school students in Seattle who develop telekinetic powers after coming into contact with a mysterious object. What starts out as harmless fun soon takes a dark turn when one of them chooses a far more sinister path.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008)

In addition to being based on the comic book character created by Mike Mignola, the film proves that a sequel can indeed match (or even surpass) the original. Here, Hellboy and the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense face a mythical prince determined to reclaim the magical world. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, it later inspired both a novelization and a comic-book adaptation.

Unbreakable (2000)

Helmed by iconic filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, the film follows the sole survivor of a devastating train crash, leading him to discover his superhuman abilities. The movie became such a success that it later spawned the sequels Split and Glass decades afterward.
